Imabari is a city located in northeast area of Ehime on Shikoku Island. It faces the Seto Inland Sea and is connected to Onomichi City in Hiroshima by the Nishiseto Expressway (Setouchi Shimanami Kaido) Think Shikoku is far away? JR trains, buses, ferries, taxi, rental cars, or bicycles are available. Please note that trains and bus services run less frequently than they do in larger cities.
Access by train or bus
For transportation on the Imabari mainland area trains (JR Yosansen line) and buses ( Setouchi bus ) are available. Please be noted that there may be only a few services depending on the area or time.
To access from the Imabari mainland to smaller islands, ferries are available. You can enjoy your trip while you watch the beautiful ocean scenery of Setouchi from on board.
For some sightseeing areas that are difficult to access by bus or train, taking a taxi is recommended. For groups of visitors, jumbo taxis are also available.
Come to visit the cyclist sanctuary Shimanami Kaido by bicycle. Sun Rise Itoyama is a public rent-a-cycle terminal. It holds quite a few bicycles and you can return your bicycle at 13 terminals. For those who want to go around downtown Imabari, there are rent-a-cycle spost in front of the Imabari station or at Imabari harbor.
